Everton face Split in Europa play-offs

Cape Town - Everton are set to clash with Croatian side Hajduk Split in the Europa League play-offs, while AC Milan will face Macedonian outfit Shkendija.

The Toffees are eager to make the most of their European adventure, with manager Ronaldo Koeman telling the press after the 1-0 win over Ruzomberok in the third qualifying round on Thursday: “This competition has always been important for me. I like to be in Europe - it’s important for our experience.

“It’s good for the club, the players and the fans. It’s not easy to reach the group stages but we will do everything to get there."

Hajduk Split have not fared well in England in the past, losing six and drawing one of their seven visits to the country, which bodes well for Koeman's charges.

Meanwhile, the Rossoneri may look to the Europa League as a great opportunity to secure Champions League football for next season, just as Manchester United did by winning the competition last term.

The Italian outfit are set to face Shkendija, who were the runners-up in the Macedonian top flight last season, losing out to Vardar Skopje.
