There’s method to Diego Simeone’s magic for sure. He added another trophy to his collection on Wednesday when his side, Atletico Madrid, sailed to Europa League victory.

It was Antoine Griezmann who was the hero for Atletico Madrid as the French striker scored twice in their 3-0 win over Marseille in Lyon, France. Not only did he allow Atletico to win their third Europa League title in nine years but he did it just 70km from his hometown, Macon.

But Atletico Madrid’s victory also improves Simeone’s incredible managerial record. The manager’s stats have gone viral since Wednesday’s victory, according to Sport Bible,.

Not only did the game mark his 233rd win as manager, but it marked his 200th clean sheet in just 377 games. Simeone, known as El Cholo, has also reached eight finals and won six trophies since taking over in December 2011.

The 48-year-old’s silverware includes one La Liga title, one Copa Del Rey victory and two Europa League trophies. Simeone has also reached two Uefa Champions League finals.

But with mounting speculation of Simeone leaving the club for Arsenal, Griezmann hopes he stays at Atletico for an even more illustrious career.

“What Cholo is doing for the club is historic . . . It's like what [Sir Alex] Ferguson did with Manchester United and hopefully he’ll win trophies and take the team to the top level because he deserves it,” he said. “I hope he’ll make history with the club because, thanks to him, we are here.”

It’s fair to say Twitter couldn’t believe the numbers, with the world in awe!
