Bogota - Colombia international goalkeeper Alvaro Montero will serve a two-month doping ban after taking a banned stimulant, a source at his club Deportes Tolima said Tuesday.
Montero, 24, will be suspended until November 30, the source added, and his ban could be extended to two years once Colombian football authorities rule on the case.
He tested positive last November for isometheptene, a prohibited substance Montero said he took to treat migraine pains.
Montero made his international debut in June and was the back-up to David Ospina at the Copa America, where Colombia lost to Chile on penalties in the quarter-finals.
