Carvalhal: FA Cup is not Swansea's priority

Cape Town - Swansea City manager Carlos Carvalhal insists his team's focus remains fixed on the Premier League, as he prepares to face Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup.

The Swans will take on the Owls in an FA Cup fifth-round replay at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday, following a disappointing 4-1 defeat to Brighton at the weekend.

Carvalhal, who left Wednesday to take over at City, has stated that the Swans will do their best to get past his former club but won't be taking any risks in terms of player fitness.

"I have said all along that we are underdogs in this competition. That is not because we are weaker than our opponents, but because it’s not our main competition,” he told the club's official website.

"We have not changed anything from the first game in the cup against Wolves.

"We will not take any risks with any players who have slight problems, but we will try to pick the best XI we have available to win a difficult game.

"If we go to the next stage that is fantastic, but if we don’t it’s not the end of the world because we have an important game on Saturday in the Premier League."

Kick-off is at 22:05 (SA time).
