Cape Town - Zinedine Zidane resigned as Real Madrid manager after a heated exchange with club president Florentino Perez over the club's transfer policy, leading to the Frenchman's shock exit.

Reports suggest the two parties had different views on two transfer targets - Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard and Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea - leading to Zidane telling Perez: 'I am done. You take care of the team'.

Perez is believed to have been against Zidane's wish to sign Hazard and the roles being reversed concerning De Gea, with the manager insisting that he had faith in Keylor Navas.

Perez is known to be extremely hands on when it comes to signing players and introduced the Galactico era to Madrid that included Zidane in his first term as president.

A number of potential names has been suggested to replaced Zidane with Arsene Wenger, Antonio Conte and Juventus' Massimiliano Allegri all mentioned.
