Cape Town - Manchester United defender Daley Blind believes the 1-0 result at Celta Vigo puts the Red Devils in a strong position to clinch a Europa League final berth.
The first leg of the semi-final tie was played in Spain on Thursday. United couldn't find the breakthrough in the first half, but grabbed their winner in the 67th minute when Marcus Rashford netted from a free-kick.
Blind conceded that Jose Mourinho's side missed a number of chances early on in the game, but ultimately were satisfied with the end result.
“We had good chances in the first half that we didn’t finish,” Blind said, according to the Express.
“Second half, we got the goal. You can do it both ways, you can risk to score more but maybe give chances away or be happy with the 1-0 and I think we were happy with the 1-0.
“Of course, if there is a chance you are going to take it but you also keep in mind there is a second game and 1-0 away is a good result.
“A clean sheet is always nice for the defence and I think we did well.”
Meanwhile Mourinho heaped praise on Marcus Rashford's desire to improve after the 19-year-old's brilliant free-kick handed the English giants a first leg win.
One moment of magic from the England international settled a tight encounter as he pulled his strike across Celta Vigo goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez into the far corner 23 minutes from time.
