Cape Town - Barcelona have officially unveiled Brazilian midfielder Arthur as their first signing for the upcoming 2018/2019 season from Brazilian outfit Gremio on a €31 million deal.
The Spanish giants revealed that the player landed in Barcelona on Wednesday to undergo a medical before putting pen-to-paper on a six-year deal.
"I’m very happy this is a dream I've had since I was little," Arthur said. "I always dreamed of putting on the FC Barcelona jersey.
"This is a championship calibre club and that is my objective to win as many titles as possible because I know this badge deserves it.
"This is every player’s dream to be part of the greatest team in the world, with the best players in the world, makes me feel privileged. I can only feel joy at what it all represents."
The La Liga champions will pay an extra €9 million in bonuses in the deal struck with the Brazilians for the midfielder, full name Arthur Henrique Ramos de Oliveira Melo.
A release clause has been set at €400 million, the Catalan giants said on their website with the club inking a per-accord for the 21-year-old in March.
Arthur was a star turn with Gremio as the Porto Alegre side lifted the Copa Libertadores, and was named as man of the match in their final win over Argentina's Lanus.
