Following a record-breaking year, Cristiano Ronaldo was named as the 2014 Ballon d'Or winner.

Ronaldo scored an incredible 61 goals in 60 appearances in 2014 with Real Madrid also winning their tenth Champions League title.

Here is what Ronaldo had to say after the awards ceremony, according to AS:

After shedding some tears at last year's awards:

"The difference from last year is that I didn’t cry, one can’t cry all the time. I was nervous though. I was reasonably confident after the great year, but all of us deserved the award".

On aiming for five Ballon d’Or’s:

"I said it in a joking manner as Messi has four. This is something that I’m not obsessed about, it’s a nice personal award but the important thing is to win team awards. It does help me to keep working with added drive".

The reaction to winning the 2014 award and the shout of "Siiiiiiii" (Watch that moment HERE!):

"The squad and people at the club know this is the way I celebrate a goal, they rest do the same, it’s our collective shout of jubilation".

Discussing his relationship with Gareth Bale after Bale's selfish play in a recent fixture:

"It’s great, there may have been an impulsive reaction after a passage of play, but he’s a huge player for the club. It was a one-off moment in a game but we get on well".

On politics and dealing with Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini:

"They have their own opinions and one has to respect that".
