Super day for Bafana, Amajita

Johannesburg - In what is set to be a treat for South African national teams fans, Bafana Bafana, Amajita and Amajimbos will on Saturday all be in action in a rare bumper treat for football fans.

All three are preparing for their respective CAF tournaments and Saturday’s matches are part of their preparations for the demanding tasks ahead.

Bafana Bafana will take part in the CAF Orange Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea 2015, which starts on 17 January to 8 February, while Amajita will play in the CAF African Youth tournament in Senegal in March. Amajimbos are rounding off a frantic three-month period for our national teams when they compete in the Youth competition in Niger next month.

Indomitable Lions

Amajimbos will set the ball rolling in Super Saturday’s hectic programme when they face their Zambian counterparts in a 15:00 kick-off at the Nkoloma Stadium just outside the capital Lusaka.

Next will be the U20 who will play a Qatar Select side at the Arabi Stadium in Doha, Qatar. The match starts at 19:00.

Rejuvenated Bafana Bafana rounds off the day’s programme with a clash against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the Gabonese capital of Libreville.

The match will take place at Stade de L’amitie and kicks off at 21:00.

Teams need that support

Safa president Danny Jordaan said: ""This is going to be a defining year for all of our national teams and tomorrow’s (Saturday's)  hectic programme will set the tone for what fans should expect in 2015.”

Jordaan said he was impressed at the way the South African public was again rallying behind the national teams and urged them to continue with that spirit.

“The supporters have always been our national teams’ 12th supporter and there is no greater time our teams need that support than this year going forward,” he said.
