Cape Town - Former Nigeria defender Efetobore Sodje admits Sammi Ameobi
is a star in the making, but believes the Newcastle midfielder is not
yet ready to become a starter for the Super Eagles.
Ameobi, younger brother of footballing veteran Shola, is eligible for both England and Nigeria, but is yet to commit his international future to either country.
According to Football411, Sodje believes the 22-year-old has plenty of ability, but feels there is still much the youngster needs to learn before he can cement a place in the national team.
"He's part of the Newcastle United team, but I don't think he's ready to take up a regular place in the (Super EagleS) first eleven," Sodje told Vanguard.
"He has done well on the few occasions he has been in the starting line up but he's not in the top 10 of best Nigerian players right now because he's yet to convince."
