Ronaldo: Don't boo Bale

Cape Town - Newly crowned Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronald has urged Real Madrid’s fans to support Gareth Bale.

The Wales international provoked the ire of Real fans during Saturday’s 3-0 Primera Liga win over Espanyol when he shot and missed instead of passing to Ronaldo, who was better positioned to score.

The Portugal international reacted angrily after the miss and Real’s fans jeered Bale, but according to Football411, the former Manchester United attacker says all is forgiven.

"Madrid fans are always the same, they are very intense, they show what they feel, they aren't liars,” he told Sky Sports.

"But I think the things with Gaz are normal because they know that Gaz is a very important player for us, a key player.

"What happened on Saturday is in the past. Sometimes I make mistakes too so its part of the business, part of football. I think the people will be nice with him and they should be nice with him."

Ronald was selected as the best player in the world for the third time in his career and the second consecutive occasion on Monday night.

Madrid lead second-placed Barcelona by just one point at the top of the Primera Liga table, but have a game in hand. Los Blancos face Getafe in their next game on Sunday.
