Cape Town - Roma's Alessandro Florenzi was shown a yellow card after running into the stands to celebrate with his gran after scoring.
The Independent report that Florenzi was cautioned by the referee for his celebration and will face punishment from his club.
Florenzi found the back of the net in the 13th minute against Cagliari and set off for a particluar spot in the stands.
Florenzi shared an emotional embrace with his 82-year-old gran before referee, Sebastiano Peruzzo, showed the player a yellow card.
"My gran's fantastic," Florenzi told Sky Italia. "It was her first time here. She never came to watch me play even when I was a kid and it would have been easy. This time she's come all this way at the age of 82.
"She told me after I missed that chance for the national team that she would come to the stadium just to see me, but that I had to go and say 'hi' to her."
Not only was Florenzi cautioned but his club will also punish him for picking up a needless yellow card, part of the club's code of conduct.
"He's going to pay a fine," manager Rudi Garcia confirmed before adding "But he will be happy to pay it.
"It was a beautiful image, to see his grandmother so delighted and moved. I love to see moments like this."
Roma defeated Cagliari 2-0.
