Cape Town - Marco Reus doesn't expect to return from injury for the start of the Bundesliga season, the Borussia Dortmund and Germany attacking midfielder told Monday's edition of Kicker sports magazine.
Reus, 25, suffered an ankle injury on the eve of Germany's June 7 departure to the World Cup and has been sidelined since.
Dortmund open their Bundesliga campaign on August 23 against Bayer Leverkusen, after playing Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup on August 13 and a first-round cup match on August 16 at lower league Stuttgarter Kickers.
Reus told Kicker that he is slightly ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation programme but that he won't rush his comeback.
"I will not return before I am at 100 per cent. I am not putting any pressure on myself," Reus said.
Reus also named his rehabilitation process the reason why he didn't fly to Rio de Janeiro to watch the World Cup final on July 13, in which Germany beat Argentina 1-0 in extra-time for a fourth title. Reus admitted missing the tournament was even more painful because Germany lifted the trophy.
Reus told Kicker he is wasting no thoughts on his future, amid speculation that he may leave Dortmund in 2015 via an alleged €35 buyout clause.

"It is important that I get fit again. Things that could be relevant for me at a later stage are secondary right now," he said.
Dortmund-born Reus said "I am happy to play for Dortmund" and also said that his future at the club does not depend on winning titles.
