Real set for Khedira boost

Cape Town - Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has revealed he will return to training this week and could make his comeback in El Clasico on October 26.

The Germany international has not featured for the European champions since picking up a hamstring injury at Real Sociedad on August 31.

Khedira came on as a late substitute in Real's 4-2 defeat to the Basque outfit and then linked up with the national team ahead of their friendly against Argentina last month.

However, he was immediately ruled out by their medical staff, with Germany team manager Oliver Bierhoff saying the 27-year-old reported for international duty injured.

Los Blancos subsequently stated that Khedira had sustained the problem during his time away with the world champions, which has kept the former Stuttgart man on the sidelines for over six weeks now.

But Khedira, who underwent minor knee surgery in his homeland last month, is now set to resume training with Carlo Ancelotti's squad, having returned to the Spanish capital on Wednesday and could come into contention for the highly-anticipated La Liga clash against Barcelona next weekend.

He told kicker: "I will certainly take part in parts of the training, I just don't know how many."
