Cape Town - Brazil 2014 golden boot winner, James Rodriguez looks set to sign for Real Madrid according to reports.
The daily mail reports that Real Madrid president is away on a business trip to South America hence the delay and Macca reports that Carlo Ancellotti has been given the all clear to expect the deal.
Most of the reports place the value of the deal to be 60 million pounds which will bring their total outlay to 80 million pounds following the capture of German World Cup star, Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich for 20 million pounds.
Rodriguez was spotted at Madrid Airport last Sunday prompting huge celebrations and the Columbian took time to take photos with fans but it later emerged, he was only in transit on his way to Nice in France.
His expected arrival will see the departure of Di Maria and Sami Khedira both rumuored to be heading to PSG and Arsenal with youngster Isco also said to be weighing his options.
It will mean Real will thus have a midfield of Xabi Alonso, Luka Modric and Rodrigues with Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo upfront
The most emphatic confirmation came from AS:
“Real Madrid and Monaco have agreed terms for the transfer of James Rodríguez; an official statement is expected from the Bernabéu on Tuesday or Wednesday. Both clubs have been locked in talks for the past week, only reaching a compromise on Sunday night. AS understands that Monaco will receive a fee close to 80 million euros for the Costa Rica international and that only a few minor details need to be resolved to conclude the operation and whether a Madrid player will be included in the deal. Monaco are keen on Diego López but the player insists he wants to stay at the Bernabéu.”
“Madrid would ideally like to present James at the stadium this week. That would means that Florentino Pérez and José Ángel Sánchez would have to delay their trip to Los Angeles where the first team squad are due to land tomorrow for the pre-season stage. James would join up with the squad, together with Varane and Benzema on August 1.”
“James refused to say anything about his move to Madrid when he was asked by reporters at Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas T4 this afternoon. The player was in the capital to take a connecting flight to Nice, France. But the new was later confirmed by his agent, Jorge Mendes.”
All of Madrid and their loyal fans around the globe will just wait and hold their breath for the arrival of the latest Galactico, maybe a response to Barcelona’s signing of Luis Suarez.
