Poland fire coach after loss

Warsaw - The Polish football association says it has fired national team coach Waldemar Fornalik following the team's 2-0 loss to England in a Soccer World Cup qualifying match.

Wednesday's decision comes a day after Poland lost to England at Wembley Stadium, giving the English a spot in next year's tournament in Brazil. Poland lost its chance to qualify after losing to Ukraine last week.

Polish football association chairperson Zbigniew Boniek thanked Fornalik for more than one year on the job.
