Pochettino expected more

Cape Town - Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino admits he was disappointed not to have taken something from Thursday's final Europa League Group D encounter after going down 1-0 to Besiktas.

Spurs dominated for large parts of this week's Ataturk Olympic Stadium encounter, but were eventually undone by Cenk Tosun's 59th-minute strike as they saw their unbeaten run in the group stages ended, while also finishing as runners-up behind the Turkish giants.

And, with Pochettino's men now in danger of earning a less favourable draw for the last-32, the boss was left counting the costs of his side's wastefulness, which denied them top spot.

"I'm disappointed because we dominated, but in football you need to score when you create chances and dominate. We had clear chances but we were unlucky in front of goal. This is football," Footall411 quotes the Spurs boss as saying.

"One minute in the second half changed the game and it's true, we dominated, but we needed to score. It's disappointing because we deserved more.

"We need to stop thinking about the Europa League for the time being, focus on the Premier League and the Capital One Cup and in February, think about this competition again."
