Platini slams 'farcical' FIFA ban

Nyon - UEFA leader Michel Platini on Thursday slammed a "farcical" FIFA ban on him from football activity and signalled he would pursue his campaign for the leadership of the world football body.

"I reject all the allegations that have been made against me," the French football legend said of a 90 day suspension ordered by FIFA's ethics committee. He condemned "the farcical nature of these events".

Without mentioning his bid to take over from Sepp Blatter as FIFA president, Platini said he had received messages of support from many national associations "encouraging me to continue my work serving football's interests".

He added: "Nothing will make me give up on that commitment."
