Messi goes over 400 mark

Cape Town - Argentina and Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi admits he was left speechless after notching up his 400th career goal during the 6-0 thrashing of Granada on Saturday.

The 27-year-old headed home his 400th goal for club and country after 62 minutes at the Nou Camp this weekend, before adding goal number 401 eight minutes from time.

And, speaking of the achievement, Messi posted on his official Facebook page: "I never imagined I could achieve anything like this in my career.

"I'll continue working hard to reach more targets."

Meanwhile, Barca coach Luis Enrique lauded the playmaker's achievement, saying: "It's like Messi was touched by a magic wand.

"I don't think if we added together the goals we have scored on the playground it would reach 400."
