Klopp rues defensive woes

Cape Town - Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has bemoaned his side's woeful defending as they lost 2-1 to rivals Schalke in the Rivierderby on Saturday.

The Konigsblauen netted two easy set-piece goals through Joel Matip and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a mere consolation.

Dortmund have now lost three of their first six league games and Klopp concedes that their defensive woes are to blame for their poor form.

"Rarely do you win games in football conceding goals like that," he told the media after the game.

"We conceded two goals that have nothing to do with tactics. You have to be ready and we were not in at least two situations today."

Despite such a poor start to the Bundesliga season, Klopp is confident Dortmund can turn it around and challenge for the title again.

"In the second half we pressed but the clear chances have been lacking," he added.

"This is of course anything but a good start for us. We have several problems with which we deal differently, but believe me on one thing: we will come good!"
