Gabon down DRC to top group

Polokwane - A well-deserved 1-0 victory by Gabon over the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in the African Nations Championship threw Group D wide open at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday.

Gabon got off to a perfect start, taking the lead in the second minute when centre-back Erwin Nguema stole in between two defenders before powering a header past Kidiaba.

The win leaves Gabon on four points from two games, while the DRC have three points after their opening two matches.
