Berlin - Hertha Berlin signed Ivory Coast striker Salomon Kalou from French side Lille on Sunday.
The Bundesliga club announced that the 29-year-old Kalou signed a three-year deal.
Both sides agreed not to disclose the transfer fee. Kicker magazine reported a fee of around €3 million.
"Kalou is a top striker who has proved his class in the Premier League, Champions League and with his national team," Hertha general manager Michael Preetz said. "He won the Champions League (in 2012) among other things with Chelsea. We're very happy to have him with us."
Kalou will be expected to replace Colombian striker Adrian Ramos, who moved to Bundesliga rival Borussia Dortmund.
Kalou has 23 goals in 67 international appearances. He began his career with Rotterdam clubs Feyenoord and Excelsior before switching to Chelsea in 2006. Altogether he scored 60 goals in 251 games for the Premier League side.
He joined Lille in 2012, scoring 30 goals in 67 league appearances for the French club.
