Brandao banned after headbutt

Cape Town - Bastia striker Brandao has been banned for six months after headbutting Paris St Germain defender Thiago Motta.

Sky Sports report that Brandao will only be able to resume playing in February 2015 after breaking Motta's nose.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of PSG, was outraged after a video emerged of Brandao headbutting Thiago Motta. He called on the French league to ban the player for life.

The French league authoritiest released this statement.

"After hearing players Thiago Motta and Brandao accompanied by representatives of both clubs, the Commission imposes a six-month suspension on Brandao for his actions towards Thiago Motta.

"Brandao will be qualified to play again from February 22, 2015."

Brandao will miss 21 of his side's next league fixtures.
