20-man shortlist for the 2019 Golden Boy revealed

Cape Town - The shortlist for the 2019 European Golden Boy Award has been announced with Joao Felix and Matteo Guendouzi among the names.

To make the cut all players have to be 21-years-old and younger.

Last year's winner Matthijs de Ligt made the shortlist again while 2017 recipient Kylian Mbappe was the surprise omission.

England stars Mason Mount, Jadon Sancho and Phil Foden made the cut along with Barcelona's 16-year-old Ansu Fati and Manchester United target Erling Haland.

A 40-man list was released last month before world governing body, FIFA, released the final 20 candidates up for the prize.

The winner will be announced in Turin on December 16.
