Bafana Bafana, who failed to qualify for the recent AFCON, are on an eight-game winless steak, leaving them 60th in the world rankings and 10th on the continent.
Goals have been hard to come by for Mosimane's outfit, with Sundowns striker Katlego Mphela struggling as their go-to-man of late as evidenced by last week's 0-0 draw with Senegal.
But with Swallows' Nomvethe topping the PSL scoring charts with nine goals (along with Mphela) and McCarthy netting five in eight league showings for Orlando Pirates, Igesund feels the pair can still shine on the international stage.
"Who is the top goal-scorer in the Premier League this season?" Igesund rhetorically asked the Sowetan.
"Nomvethe has scored nine goals this season and continues to work harder in every game. That's all I've got to say really."
But he then continued: "McCarthy not only has a record of scoring goals, but he is doing it in the league this season.
"Why not call these guys in and let them get a couple of goals to bring back the confidence for the other guys in the team? And then take it from there."
The duo, both 34 years old, have 79 caps each and a combined total of 47 goals between them.
