Cape Town - In an apparent U-turn, some 3 000 supporters will be allowed to attend this weekend's CAF Champions League Group A fixtures at the El Gouna Stadium in Egypt, according to the Soccer-Laduma website.
Al Ahly will play Congo's AC Leopards on Saturday, before Zamalek host Orlando Pirates at the same stadium on Sunday.
Ahram Online reports that the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) have confirmed that Al Ahly and Zamalek fans will be allowed to attend the matches, despite security concerns.
"Security authorities have approved a maximum of 3 000 spectators to be allowed to attend the matches," EFA spokesperson Azmy Megahed told Ahram Online.
This contradicts a previous announcement made by the EFA, that these two matches would be played behind closed doors for security reasons.
Pirates currently lead Group A with seven points, followed by AC Leopards and Al Ahly, on four points, while Zamalek are currently languishing at the bottom (one point) of the log after three rounds.
Pirates beat Zamalek 4-1 in their earlier fixture at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.
