FIFA give $300K to NZ city

Zurich - FIFA has given $300 000 to help fund football projects in Christchurch after earthquakes devastated the New Zealand city.

FIFA says it approved a funding request from David Chung, the president of the Auckland-based Oceania Football Confederation.

The new money follows a FIFA grant of $400 000 to build an all-weather training pitch which opened in Christchurch last month.

The governing body said on Thursday's grant will "be used for renovating, restoring and constructing football facilities" in the city.

Christchurch has been hit by several earthquakes in recent months. A magnitude-6.1 strike in February killed 181 people and destroyed much of the city's downtown area.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
