Ex-Bafana star calls it quits

Johannesburg - Former SuperSport United defender Bradley Carnell has decided to hang up his boots after a career spanning 18 years on the field.

The former Bafana Bafana regular, who signed professionally at the age of 16, previously turned out for Wits, Kaizer Chiefs and Bundesliga teams VfB Stuttgart, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Karlsruhe and Hansa Rostock.

He returned to South Africa for a final season at SuperSport United before calling an end to his long and successful career.

“I am excited about what the future holds and look forward to enjoying some time spent at home with my family and friends, this is a luxury that as a professional player you don’t always have,” said Carnell in an official statement.
