Cape Town - Manchester United captain Ashley Young has rejected a contract extension offer from the club in favour of a move to Inter Milan, according to reports in Italy.

The 34-year-old, who has six months remaining on his current deal has reportedly agreed a move to the Serie A with Antonio Conte's table-topping side.

Italian press claim that a call from former team-mate Romelu Lukaku convinced Young to join him at Inter over accepting a contract extension to remain at Old Trafford.

"We can't weaken ourselves, we need to strengthen ourselves, if any movement if going to happen," Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said when discussing Young's potential exit.

Sky Sport Italia are reporting that Young is so determined to force through a move in the January transfer window that he has informed Solskjaer he will no longer play for the club.
