Cape Town - Jack Wilshere will be offered a new Arsenal contract in the New Year, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed.
Wilshere joined Bournemouth on a season-long loan during the summer and has made nine Premier League appearances for the Cherries so far.
The England international only has 18 months remaining on his contract at the Emirates and Wenger admits he has not spoken with the 24-year-old since joining Bournemouth.
However, Wenger still sees Wilshere as part of his long-term plans and believes he will reap the rewards of his loan spell.
On the contract talks, Wenger said: "We have to plan that around the new year.
"That's exactly what he needed - to have regular football, maybe not every three days but every week at the start.
"That has helped him a lot to develop and come back to the level he deserves to be at.
"He gets regular football and now on the observations I get from our people who watch him, he's getting stronger every week.
"I leave him to deal with his manager. I read the reports and when I can see highlights or watch him on television, I will watch him."
