West Ham's Kouyate has red card rescinded

London - West Ham United midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate has had his red card from the Premier League match against Crystal Palace on Saturday rescinded by the Football Association, the English governing body announced Tuesday.

The FA said a claim of wrongful dismissal had been upheld, and that the 26-year-old Senegal midfielder "will therefore not serve any suspension".

West Ham were leading 2-1 against London rivals Palace on Saturday when Kouyate was shown a straight red card by referee Mark Clattenburg for a high foot on Dwight Gayle.

Palace then equalised against the 10-man Hammers in a match that finished all square at 2-2.

The draw checked West Ham's charge for a top-four finish and a place in next season's Champions League, although Kouyate has at least escaped a ban.

Slaven Bilic's side are currently sixth in the table, three points behind fourth-placed Manchester City, with seven league games remaining.
