Cape Town - Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is concerned about striker Olivier Giroud after he limped off the pitch in Tuesday’s 1-0 League Cup win over West Ham United.
Danny Welbeck saw the Gunners past the Hammers at the Emirates Stadium, in which Giroud started but was unable to complete the match due to a hamstring injury.
"We have to wait," Wenger said.
"Nowadays you do the scan 48 hours after the injury.
"That will happen on Thursday, then we will have a precise kind of grade on what his hamstring is.
"When you listen to him, the pain is quite big, but the grade is not always linked with the intensity of the pain. In his statement, it does not look very good."
Giroud has managed to score four goals in 14 appearances for the Gunners this season, but is now expected to miss the busy schedule over the festive period.
Arsenal welcome Liverpool to the Emirates Stadium for a rare Friday evening Premier League clash.
Kick-off is at 21:45 (SA time).
