Wenger praises Ospina

Cape Town - Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has heaped the praise on goalkeeper David Ospina following his performance in the 2-2 draw against Tottenham on Saturday.

The Gunners' number two was in fine form in the north London derby, when he was asked to stand in for the injured Petr Cech, making nine saves during the game and playing a huge role in keeping the scores level at the end of the match.

Wenger said he always knew that the Colombia international was a world-class goalkeeper, and  never doubted his ability as a top player.

"I believe that I told you many times in these press conferences that I rate him as a top class, world-class goalkeeper," said Wenger.

The Frenchman gave Ospina a rare start during the Champions League group stages against Greek champions Olympiacos, a decision that was questioned by many in the media after he conceded two goals in their 3-2 defeat, but Wenger insisted that the criticism was unfair.

"I never questioned his quality. I think he had been unfairly treated when I played him against Olympiacos and it was a shame that at the time his stats did not come out in the press and that's where I thought he got unfair treatment."

Arsenal travel to Championship side Hull City for the FA Cup second leg match on Tuesday night, with the score tied at 0-0. The French boss said changes to the squad will have to be made, but he believes that anyone who is called on will be ready to deliver.

"We made 10 changes in the first game and I believe we will have a team with a good chance to qualify, no matter who plays," Wenger added.

"David Ospina is an example of that on Saturday.

"We will have to make changes to keep the balance right but I have same respect [for the opposition] and exact same idea that every player in my squad can play and can win the game."
