Cape Town - Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he has spoken to Jack Wilshere, after the midfielder once again made the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
The injury-prone player last featured for the Gunners in a pre-season victory over Wolfsburg, with a broken leg ruling the England international out of contention for much of the current campaign.
However, having recently returned to training, Wilshere was alleged to have been involved in an altercation outside a nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning.
"I've spoken to him," Wenger said. "It looks to be taken out of proportion a little bit. These are matters we like to keep internal.
"There was no training session the next day. I had a day off. You can accept players go out."
Wilshere will take the next step in recovery process by taking part in an under-21's game on Friday, and Wenger is pleased to see the 24-year-old edging closer to a first-team return.
"What is positive is that he works very, very hard," Wenger added. "The news looks quite good. I think he will have a good test on Friday."
