Cape Town - Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has ruled out a potential move for Dimitri Payet, claiming it will be a quiet transfer window for the north London giants.
Payet is expected to leave West Ham before the end of January after refusing to play for the club in a bid to force a move away from the London Stadium.
Despite admitting he is a fan of the France international, Wenger claims his side is well stocked in the creative midfield department and that the Gunners have no need to break the bank in securing his services.
"I expect it to be a very quiet period," the Frenchman told reporters. "We are very strong. We have many, many players who can come in.
"I rate Payet but I don't need Payet because we have so many creative players. We have many players who can play in this position."
