Weather update: Merseyside derby will go ahead

Cape Town - Liverpool have released statement to allay fears that Sunday's Merseyside derby will go ahead as planned.

Amid postponement fears due to inclement weather, the Reds website says "Sunday's game against Everton is planned to go ahead."

For any further developments, fans are instructed to keep an eye on the official site.

The statement said: "Due to the inclement weather forecast on Sunday, Liverpool FC would like to remind supporters to take extra care when travelling to Anfield and encourage fans to plan their journey in advance.

"Supporters are encouraged to arrive at the stadium early and check the Merseytravel and Merseyrail websites for any updates before they travel."

This update comes after the Met Office issued an amber weather warning, with snowfall expected in Liverpool over the next 48 hours.
