Watford and Stoke fined for brawl

Cape Town - The Football Association has fined Watford and Stoke City for failing to control their players in the Premier League clash at Vicarage Road last month.

The clubs were charged with misconduct following an incident involving Hornets captain Troy Deeney and Potters midfielder Joe Allen in the closing stages of the match.

TV replays showed Deeney grabbing Allen in the face with both hands, which eventually led to bookings for the pair after players from opposing teams had joined the fray.

Deeney was handed a three-game ban for his part in the episode, while the FA has now fined the two teams £25 000 each.

Mark Hughes' side had emerged 1-0 victors in Hertfordshire courtesy of Darren Fletcher's first-half goal.
