WATCH: Paul Scholes, football genius, turns 42

Cape Town - Wednesday, November 16, 2016 marks the 42nd birthday of Manchester United legend Paul Scholes, who many have hailed as the best midfielder of his generation.

Sport24 paid tribute to the midfield maestro with a compilation of his greatest goals and tributes by players who have played with and against him.

Over a career spanning 22 years, Scholes is one of the most decorated English players of all time, having won a total of 25 cups, including 11 English Premiership and two Champions League titles.

Players who have faced the United midfielder often rate him as the toughest opponent they have faced with Xavi, Zinedine Zidane and many others naming him as the best midfielder of the last 20 years.
