Wasilewski pens Foxes extension

Cape Town - Leicester City have confirmed that defender Marcin Wasilewski has signed a new one-year extension with the Premier League champions.

The former Poland international will serve as a reliable understudy for first-choice central defenders Robert Huth and Wes Morgan.

Wasilewski only made nine first-team appearances last season but is said to be content with his role as a back-up squad member as he approaches the latter stages of his career.

The 36-year-old, who is also comfortable at right-back and in defensive midfield, has played 72 time for the Foxes since joining the from Belgian giants Anderlecht in 2013.

Wasilewski was an integral part of the team that won the English Championship under Nigel Pearson in the 2013/14 season, making 31 appearances.
