Cape Town - Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner thought his side gifted Chelsea their goals in Tuesday’s 3-1 Premier League loss at The John Smith's Stadium.

Tiemoue Bakayoko, Willian, and Pedro made it a routine win for the Blues, with Laurent Depoitre pulling one back for the Terriers in stoppage time.

"They didn't need to invest much into the first goal, it was a goal that we gave away, and the same with the second, we gave two easy goals away, and this wasn't the case against Man Utd and Man City," Wagner said.

"I think before we conceded it looked a little bit like when we played Man United and Man City. We kept them away from goal and they didn't create many clear-cut chances before they scored the goal in the first 20, 25 minutes.

"The biggest difference today was that Chelsea scored the first goal, and then quickly the second one. I think it wasn't comfortable for Chelsea, in my view.

"They were good, no doubt about it, the bigger problem is we haven't over-performed. I think we performed on an average level, we didn't under-perform, but we didn't over-perform.

"And as I said, you have to over-perform if you like to get a result as Huddersfield Town against Chelsea. This wasn't the case. I think a 3-1 defeat is maybe the expected result, even if we wanted to have more."
