City striker Jamie Vardy is turning a deaf ear to his critics after he
ended his goal-scoring drought against Manchester City on Saturday.
Vardy came back to form with a bang as he registered a hat-trick and scored for the first time in 16 games.
The 29-year-old found the back of the net 24 times during Leicester’s successful Premier League campaign last season, but during his barren run this season, he endured plenty of criticism, including from Michael Owen, who said that the striker relied more on luck than skill.
Responding to Owen’s comments, Vardy said: "I don't listen to that. He can say what he wants. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
"I'm not going to read anything to it and that's up to them what they say. I'll just get on with it, work on the training field and hopefully take it into the matches."
Despite his hat-trick, Vardy made it clear that he is not getting over-excited as his side are in 14th place on the Premier League standings.
"At the end of the day the team comes first. Although we've not been getting the results and a few of the performances have been below par, deep down we knew we were still the team we were last year," he said. "On Saturday's performance we've definitely got that back and we'll look forward to Tuesday now at Bournemouth.
"I don't think we can start talking about streaks and stuff like that just yet, but we'll have to wait and see. Obviously with what happened last year, a lot of expectations go up. Against City we showed exactly what we're about and what we can do."
Leicester will look to build momentum in the English Premiership against a stuttering Eddie Howe side at the Vitality Stadium.
