Valencia: United can not give up on title

Cape Town - Manchester United right-back Antonio Valencia insists the team simply has to continue fighting to catch Premier League leaders Manchester City despite the gap between them.

Jose Mourinho's men claimed a 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town on Saturday, their fourth win in five games, but remain 13 points behind City with 12 league games left this season.

Valencia has urged his teammates to keep their heads down and keep battling for three points every game until the end of the campaign because you never know what could happen.

"We need to keep fighting until the end - we need to keep going,” the 32-year-old told the club's official website.

"A few years ago, we lost a title when we were eight points ahead and there were only a few games left. Now, we have a lot more games to play and we need to keep fighting.

"The important thing is always to get the three points - playing at home, playing well, and we will carry on with this mentality until the end of the season.

"We have showed that we have the quality and conditions to fight until the end of the season.”
