Cape Town - Rising star Marcus Rashford is set to be offered a new contract by Manchester United, even though it’s been just four months since he signed his last deal.
The teenage sensation, who is hoping to start against Watford today, is reportedly being chased by a host of Europe’s top clubs including Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain after a stunning start to his professional career.
Rashford signed a new four-year contract in May worth £20,000 a week, but the Daily Mirror reports that United are set to offer him a substantial raise in order to keep him.
The Mirror quoted an Old Trafford insider as saying, “The club will do everything to make sure Marcus is happy at United. That means talking to him and listening to any problems he may have.”
“It also means paying him the kind of money top international footballers expect to earn,” the insider added.
The move comes after a remarkable rise from obscurity for the Manchester-born striker, who burst onto the scene in February with two goals on his debut against Midtjylland in the Europa League.
He has gone on to score six goals in 13 appearances for the Red Devils, while he has also made his full debut for England, again netting on debut against Australia.
Rashford has one goal to his name this season from four Premier League appearances so far, though he has yet to start a game.
He made his first start on Thursday night when United lost 1-0 in their Europa League opener to Feyenoord.
