United to include Bailly in Alderweireld offer - report

Cape Town - Manchester United are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspurs defender Toby Alderweireld in the off-season and would be willing to include Eric Bailly in their offer, according to reports.

United have long been linked with a move for Alderweireld, who has a £25 million release clause in his current contract and looks sure to be on the move with a host of clubs chasing his signature.

However, United hope by offering Bailly as part of the deal, it will swing things in their favour and Alderweireld will end up moving to Old Trafford.

Arsenal has been chasing Bailly for some time, but now Tottenham are also reported to have joined the race to sign him and would be interested in a swap deal after accepting some time ago that they would struggle to keep Alderweireld.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to sign at least one new central defender during the close season, and landing the Belgium international for what looks to be a bargain price, would be one less thing to worry about.
