Toffees ready for Gomes talks with Barcelona

Cape Town - Everton are set to continue talks with Barcelona over a permanent move for Andre Gomes, according to reports in Spain.

The Portuguese midfielder has made a huge impression at Goodison Park since arriving on loan in the summer and the Toffees are ready to step up transfer negotiations.

Reports emanating from the Spanish media have said Everton director of football Marcel Brands will travel to Barcelona in the coming weeks to negotiate a permanent deal.

Barcelona will be happy to let the 25-year-old move on as he has little chance of forcing his way into their first-team, but they will not be willing to let him go on the cheap.

The Catalan giants splashed out £30 million to sign him from Valencia back in 2016 and they will be looking to recoup as much of that fee as possible when they sit around the negotiating table with the Toffees in the coming weeks.

Whether Everton will be willing to go that high remains to be seen, and there could be some negotiating to be done.
