Tipsters: Saints don’t have Anfield prayer!

Cape Town – Mid-table Southampton to get in the way of Liverpool’s surge toward the English Premiership title? Hardly.

That is the unanimous view of the Sport24 tipsters, all of whom see the Reds winning with some comfort at “Fortress Anfield” on Saturday.

It would only echo - if it happens - last season’s comprehensive 3-0 outcome, when ‘Pool netted all three before halftime before powering down a bit.

Each round of the 2019/20 campaign, a group of our staff has a crack at predicting the results – do the exercise yourself, if you like, and see how you compare afterwards.

Compiled by Rob Houwing (Newcastle-partial), the others are Garrin Lambley (Everton, and defending champion), Lloyd Burnard, Tashreeq Vardien, Baden Gillion and Lynn Butler (all Man Utd) plus Craig Taylor (Liverpool).

Three points are awarded for an entirely correct score-line, and one for right result.

Yes! Siya will only be 36 at the next World Cup. He can make it!

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
