Tipsters: ‘Pool to bury the Baggies

Cape Town – A victorious Liverpool to increase the heat on second-placed Manchester United in the Premiership this weekend.

That is the expectation of the Sport24 pundits, who simultaneously see their Saturday opponents, basement-level West Brom, almost certainly being confirmed for relegation.

United, who would find Liverpool only point behind if that result occurs, are distracted by FA Cup semi-final matters against Tottenham.

There is a leaner, six-match Premiership programme this weekend, in which our panel also expect Manchester City to have a fitting, winning home celebration of the already-sealed title by downing Swansea at the Etihad Stadium.

Each round of the 2017/18 Premiership campaign, a group of our staff has a crack at predicting the results – do the exercise yourself, if you like, and see how you compare afterwards.

Compiled by Rob Houwing (Newcastle-partial), the others are Garrin Lambley (Everton), Lloyd Burnard, Tashreeq Vardien, Baden Gillion and Lynn Butler (all Man Utd) plus Craig Taylor (Liverpool).

Three points are awarded for an entirely correct scoreline, and one for right result.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
