Tipsters: Jose to depress Pep!

Cape Town – Perhaps influenced by the panel’s partiality for Manchester United in most cases, the Sport24 forecasters lean toward a Red Devils triumph in Saturday’s spicy Premiership derby against fellow high-riders City.

But there is also some support for a tense stalemate in the first major English square-up between arch-rival bosses Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola – which would echo last season’s rather cagey 0-0 outcome in the corresponding clash at Old Trafford, although Jesse Lingard did hit the crossbar late on for United.

Each round of the 2016/17 Premiership campaign, a group of our staff has a crack at predicting the results – do the exercise yourself, if you like, and see how you compare afterwards.

Compiled by Rob Houwing (Newcastle-partial; he swears the Championship is more competitive), the others are Garrin Lambley (Everton), Lloyd Burnard, Tashreeq Vardien, Maano Nekhavhambe and Lynn Butler (all Man Utd) plus Craig Taylor (Liverpool).

Three points are awarded for an entirely correct scoreline, and one for right result.
