Tipsters: City to trounce Toon!

Cape Town – Fired up by the indignity of their first defeat of the season at Liverpool, Premiership leaders Manchester City will bounce back in some style at the expense of struggling visitors Newcastle on Saturday.

So say virtually all of the Sport24 forecasters ... although the lone dissenting voice, interestingly, comes from the man at the top of our leaderboard, who bravely suggests a point at the Etihad Stadium for Rafa Benitez’s troops.

Each round of the 2017/18 Premiership campaign, a group of our staff has a crack at predicting the results - do the exercise yourself, if you like, and see how you compare afterwards.

Compiled by Rob Houwing (Newcastle-partial), the others are Garrin Lambley (Everton), Lloyd Burnard, Tashreeq Vardien, Baden Gillion and Lynn Butler (all Man Utd) plus Craig Taylor (Liverpool).

Three points are awarded for an entirely correct scoreline, and one for right result.

Yes! Siya will only be 36 at the next World Cup. He can make it!

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
