Cape Town - Manchester United are expected to revive their interest in Netherlands international Kevin Strootman after Marseille made the midfielder available for loan.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to bolster his Reds midfield, and although he has money to spend on new players, a loan deal for the Netherlands ace could be a viable option.
The 29-year-old was linked with a move to United when David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal were in charge at Old Trafford, and the interest has not gone away.
Strootman signed for French club Marseille from Roma for £23 million last summer and has been a mainstay in central midfield throughout the season.
But Marseille needs to cut costs after a disappointing season in which they are placed sixth in Ligue 1 with one round of fixtures left to play, and have offered him out on loan.
United are said to be one of the clubs, while he has also been offered to West Ham United and Everton.
Manchester United are expected to undergo a massive overhaul this summer.
Ed Woodward, executive vice-chairman, last week told investors the club would use their financial muscle to help manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rebuild following a 'turbulent' season.
